Elena Morenkova

Elena Morenkova is a post-graduate student in political science at the Panthéon-Assas University (Paris 2). Her PhD thesis is devoted to representations of Soviet past in modern Russia, in particular of those of the ‘Putin generation’. Therefore, the research emphasises the role of the new media (blogosphere, social network sites), where the activity of young Russians in the domain of memory work is easily observed. The actual phase of research concerns the degree of conformity or rupture of new practices of memory and history bottom up to official interpretations of Soviet past (textbooks, political discourse) and to traditional institutionalised historical discourse (lieux de mémoire, cultural vectors of memory).
