6.6 Russian Optimistic Internet TV Channel Dozhd (Interview with Mikhail Zygar’)

Dozhd [rain, in Russian] is one of the newest Russian off-the-air television channels. It was launched in April 2010, and since then it has been available to users over the cable, satellite and on the internet. Dozhd is a small private TV channel with a pronounced social mission and an innovative style which is quite unique on the Russian TV market. Dozhd covers some current social and political issues that are sometimes absent from major Russian TV channels. As a result Dozhd has gained a lot of popularity amongst young politically active internet-users. In an exclusive interview with Arseny Khitrov, Mikhail Zygar’, editor-in-chief of Dozhd, discusses the evolution of the TV channel, its techniques of news presentation and the relations of Dozhd to other TV channels and audiences.
