Dr Argyro Karanasiou is Senior Lecturer in Law specializing in IT and Media Law at Bournemouth University, UK. Argyro holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (UK), and an LLM and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Athens (Greece). She is also an ISP Alumna at Yale Law School and a PRG Alumna at NYU Law School. Her research discusses techno-legal conceptual frameworks of regulating emerging technologies in a rights-based manner, which aims at securing user empowerment. In the past, she has been involved in digital media projects with the Council of Europe and with the OSCE. Currently, Argyro is working on Machine Learning and its implications for the agent’s autonomy.
