Natalia Samutina is Head of the Center for Studies of Contemporary Culture at the Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia. She is also associate professor of Sociology at the same institution. Her fields of research are multiple and include cinema theory, visual anthropology, urban studies, popular music, studies of street art and fan fiction. She is the author of more than 30 articles and the editor of the first Russian book of theoretical texts on science fiction cinema (Science-fiction Cinema. Episode One. M.: New Literary Observer). She is the Head of the research group ‘Graffiti and street art in the cultural cityscape’.
